Why do you need a meaningful vision to succeed in life? In fact, that’s the first thing I ask most of my coaching clients. They don’t understand that visioning and goal-setting is an important part of life. Without it, you don’t get anything accomplished. So, why you need a vision to succeed in life?

Having a vision for your life, or even your goals and aspirations can be an incredible motivator and can help to make things happen faster and more smoothly. It can also help to keep you focused and on track, and to help you realize the big picture. In fact, a very insightful article by a famous entrepreneur, Hal Perkins, who had been in business for 45 years, put it this way: “If you want to have lasting success in business, you’ve got to have a vision. And that vision should be bigger than you.”

Perkins wrote that to help inspire other people, “You need to picture yourself doing things that are different from your usual habits.” When he said that he couldn’t achieve success by setting goals that were the same as what he did every day, he was saying that the visions he had of himself were bigger than him. He wanted to achieve more success than he ever thought possible. And he did.

Now, for you to have a vision for you to succeed in life, there is a step-by-step action plan that you must follow. Why you need a vision for you to succeed in life, it’s because having a goal-setting and goal-achieving strategy is one thing, but actually taking the actions to accomplish those goals is another story. You see, there is nothing worse than going into a classroom or office setting where all the students are working on the same project or assignment and feeling frustrated because you are stuck on your task.

It doesn’t matter if you are the only one who didn’t feel motivated to do your work, the rest of the class or the office employees will feel your frustration. You may even get called to the principal’s office for giving the student trouble.

So, having a vision for you to succeed in life is important but the only way for you to actually accomplish your goals is to take the actual steps towards achieving them. However, with most students and most workplaces, there are problems that prevent individuals from acting on their plans. There is no step-by-step action plan for working effectively in an office or classroom. But there are some actionable strategies that can help individuals who need the motivation to get things done. Some of these include:

Setting goals is an important aspect of working towards your goals because, without them, you will never achieve them. The sooner you set your goals, the more clarity you will gain about what it is that you need to accomplish. Therefore, it is important to write down your goals and evaluate them every single day.

It is also important to motivate yourself when you are not working towards your goals. If you do not feel like working towards them, write them down so that you will have a goal that you are always working toward. This will keep you focused and will help you achieve your goals a lot faster.

Finally, the best action plan is to create a vision for you to succeed by having multiple smaller goals that must be reached for you to reach success. In the short-term, you will fail if you set yourself very big goals that have a very big scope. However, you will definitely achieve your goals in the long-term. Therefore, I recommend that you set a small goal for yourself every day and work towards it with your action plan to achieve the vision.
