Are there any reasons why you have not been able to execute your plan as per your original idea? Many people have the habit of not following their plans exactly as written. For some reason, they find it difficult to implement the same on their own. Here are 4 reasons why this is happening.

1.Doubt with your Plan –

You may be unsure as to whether your plan will really work out. In such a case, there are chances that you will not be executing your plan as per your original idea, because you are not fully convinced that it will work out. So, rather than just ignore the reason, you should try and figure out why this has happened. There could be several reasons behind it.

The first and foremost reason could be that you have not thoroughly discussed your ideas with your team. When you have discussed the details of your plans with your team members, you must be able to convince them to go with what you have planned. If not, then there is no point in spending time. You can also make the mistake of describing everything briefly in an email to your team members. This will only create confusion and it will be difficult to understand.

2. Making things Complicated –

Another reason could be that you have written your original plan in a language that is too complicated. Even though it is simple for you to explain your idea, the meaning of the same cannot be conveyed very well in English. There are many words in the English language that do not mean the same thing as you think they mean. If you use these words in your email to your team members, they might think that you are not giving them clear instructions.

Yet another reason could be that the initial stages of your idea are too vague and you need a detailed description of the same. If you need to explain your idea to someone in the technical field, then there are chances that he or she would not be able to understand the implications very well. You might end up explaining it in terms of computer code! It is better not to waste the time.

3. Not Defining Clear Goals –

Some of the other reasons why your plan is not executed as per your original plan can be because of you not having clearly defined goals and objectives. To get your plan off the ground, you should have a list of what you want to achieve. This list should be updated regularly so that you do not get stuck at any one point in time. If you do not update your objectives and goals, then chances are that you will never realize your dreams.

4. Not Defining Time Frame –

You also may not have clearly defined time frames to achieve your goals. A good businessperson always plans for long-term targets and does not try to meet the deadline. It may not always be possible to achieve the desired short-term goals if it is not implemented on time. It is important not to get sidetracked by the short-term goals that might seem to be more important at the time.

Final Words-

You should keep the original plan and modify it as per the market conditions. Even though you may find it tempting to change the objectives and goals as per the market conditions, you should refrain from doing so unless you have done thorough homework about the consequences of such a move. The mistake that many people make is that they tend to implement their plan without understanding its implications. It pays to understand the risks and rewards of the various options before making a final decision.
